On 22 and 23 April CHRDRI and the Council of Europe organize a two-day international seminar on the particularly relevant in the Bulgarian context topic of how to involve citizens in the fight against poverty. Some of the questions the lecturers and participants - representatives of local authorities, government and non-governmental organizations - will investigate are related to the ways of finding approaches to social problems without stigmatizing the individuals affected, identifying innovative approaches and alternative resources.
Lecturers of the training will be Mrs. Gilda Farrell, Head of the Social Cohesion Research and Early Warning Division of the Council of Europe, Malcolm Cox, an expert in the field, Maria Zhelyazkova by the European Anti-Poverty Network, and Rui Sa Carneiro, who will share Portuguese experience in organizing citizens wishing to participate in initiatives to combat poverty.
